Other Activities
DIVING
One of the most wanted activities in Morro de São Paulo is diving. Being part of an archipelago, Morro de São Paulo has many points of privileged nature and marine fauna. For those who want to stay in the shallow waters, just playing to see corals and colorful fish, both the Third and the Fourth Beach are perfect.
But if you want to go a little further, there are dive operators that offer boat trips. You can choose to join for Free Diving or Cylinder diving. All closely supervised by an instructor. It is allowed the participation of those who have never put on a diving mask and makes the greatest success!!
SURF
Morro de São Paulo has one of the best ‘rights’ in Bahia. The main peaks are:
Pedra do Moleque - At the First Beach, the best wave of the island rolls, which reaches its greatest power with a swell from the East. Breaking from 2 to 6 feet on a shallow bank of corals.
Quebrancinha - On the left corner of the First Beach. Fast and sharp ‘beach break’ from left breaking on sea background with stones and corals. The best waves roll when, in the Pedra do Moleque, the waves surpass the 4 feet. In Quebrancinha the waves can reach from 2 to 4 feet.
The best time of year to surf is from June to September, when the South swell enters.
WALKING IN MANGROVE
É mais do que um passeio,é a descoberta de um paraíso perdido. Passeio de carro até a Praia do Encanto, depois caminhada até a chapado do Elias, onde o rio encontra com o mar. Uma verdadeira experiência nativa.
MORRO TIROLESA
Is it adrenaline you're looking for? So, the challenge is to get down the Morro Tirolesa. The Morro Tirolesa goes from the Lighthouse to the First Beach. It is 300 meters long, starting at a height of 57 meters. It's pure emotion!
JUBARTE WHALE WATCHING
JUBARTE whales (Humpback whale) and FRANCA whales (Eubalaena Australis) migrate annually to Brazil escaping the harsh winter in Antarctica. There they mate, give birth and feed their babies. JUBARTE whales usually appear on the coast of Bahia, to reproduce, between July and November, but September is the main month of the baby's birth. In Bahia, the No-Governmental Organization (ONG) “Instituto Baleia Jubarte” organizes whale watching with a tour operator, including those from Morro de São Paulo.
